The Story of Us
Lindy and Jill’s story began many years ago, long before they ever imagined the paths their lives would take. Their mums Liz and Joan, became best pals at the local tennis club, two social butterflies who quickly fluttered their way onto the social committee. Naturally, young Lindy and Jill were swept right into the fun, helping organise family events, assembling mountains of sandwiches, and overseeing kids’ discos. Wherever the action was, the girls were there.
Their families spent loads of time together, but nothing topped the beloved Christmas Day tradition. Every year, Jill’s family would swing by Lindy’s house either before or after dinner, depending on how the day was unfolding. Lindy’s dad, John, was always at the ready with drinks and treats, while Jill’s dad, James, was forever happy to receive them. Meanwhile, their mums cackled in a corner like a pair of joyful witches. It was magic.
Time moved on and the girls shared many important milestones, with Jill and her mum singing at Lindy’s wedding. The families started to grow and when Lindy’s firstborn turned four, she started weekly dance lessons with Jill. The universe may not have been ready for what was to come but they certainly were. Jill asked Lindy to work with her and it was a decision neither ever regretted, their dynamic was a match made in heaven.
Their children, Lindy’s two and Jill’s four, began calling each other cousins. "Aunty Jill" and "Aunty Lindy" are firm fixtures in each household. The generational friendship felt like something rare and wonderful.
Lindy & Jill
But the story didn’t stop there. When Jill had a hospital stay after her fourth child arrived far earlier than expected, Lindy stepped in to adopt Nala, Jill’s beloved golden retriever, for four months. When Nala finally returned home, Lindy experienced something dangerously close to empty-nest syndrome... and promptly got her own golden retriever puppy, Luna. As you’ve guessed: their mums are best friends, they are best friends, their kids are best friends... and now their dogs are best friends too.
People often say, and they’re not wrong, that Lindy and Jill share a brain. They communicate with their eyes, through fits of laughter, and by finishing each other’s sentences (and sandwiches). They always seem to know exactly what the other is thinking.
With all this history, connection, and a shared lifelong love of dance, and of supporting young dancers’ wellbeing, it only made sense that they would go into business together. Their dream was to create a beautiful Dance Wellness event that captures the essence of their friendship, the way they’ve raised their children through dance, and the many wonderful benefits dance brings to life.
They look forward to sharing their passion, inspiring young dancers and of course, plenty of shared laughter along the way.
Aside from all that....they’re actually qualified to do this...
Jill
Dancing since the age of four, Jill has dedicated her life to the art of movement and performance. In 2007, she founded Jill O’Neill School of Dance, which has grown into a thriving community, with its headquarters in Junction 6, Castleknock, along with five additional locations and a team of 12 staff members.
Jill is also the founder and co-creator of Dance Platform, a non-competitive dance event that brings together schools from across the country each year at the Helix Theatre. Now running for over 14 years, Dance Platform has become a well known celebration of talent, creativity, and community.
Her passion for both dance and her students led her to expand her professional journey. After completing a year of study in Play Therapy, Jill began a four year degree in Psychotherapy, deepening her commitment to supporting young people both on and off the stage.
Lindy
Lindy enjoyed a career spanning over 20 years in radio, the majority of which was with RTÉ.
During her time in RTÉ, Lindy co-ordinated a wide range of large-scale events, including the Tayto Song Contest, 2FM’s coverage of Electric Picnic, Longitude and Sea Sessions, as well as TY Radio and many others.
Lindy is also a trained handler for her dog Luna, who is a qualified therapy dog. They volunteer with Reading Dogs Ireland, a non-profit organisation that visits schools to support children experiencing difficulties with literacy and reading. Through this work, Lindy has seen first-hand how confidence, patience and encouragement can transform a child’s relationship with learning.
With a lifelong love of dance and music, Lindy’s involvement in the dance school feels like a natural extension of her creative background. Being part of the dance school and working closely with the students brings her immense joy. She especially values watching their confidence grow and sharing in the excitement of their achievements both on and off the stage.
